Since his conducting studies with Jordi Mora and Arturo Tamayo, the Spaniard Armando Merino has pursued his path as a demanded conductor with a focus on contemporary music with increasing success. He received groundbreaking impulses as a member of the International Ensemble Modern Academy as well as from Pierre Boulez, Peter Rundel and Titus Engel. Armando Merino has worked with renowned ensembles such as Remix, Zafraan, Divertimento and Ensemble Linea.
In 2014 he founded the Ensemble BlauerReiter (renamed in 2020 to der/gelbe/klang) in his adopted home of Munich. As a guest conductor Merino was invited by Ensemble Utraschall (DSO), the MaerzMusik Festival (Konzerthausorchester) and IMPULS Festival (Staatskapelle Halle, Magdeburgische Philharmonie). In 2019 Armando Merino received the first IMPULS Conducting Scholarship from the Kurt-Masur-Institute Leipzig.
